Illamasqua - Alex Box

I just wanted to share this absolutely amazing picture done by the one and only Alex Box, when i saw this I fell in love with it. It is absolutely perfect, the way it catches the light is just fantastic, the gems/crystals teamed with the eye make up works perfectly together. I have lots of crystals in my kit maybe i should give this look a go, mind you i bet she had various asistants to help her as this would take hours to do alone and bags of patience. :-))))

Glamour Days Palette MUA and Revlon Lip Butter

It is a gorgeous day again today so I opted for some pastel colours from my lovely MUA Glamour Nights Eye Palette, and my new Revlon Lip Butters. The Lip Butters are great for giving you colour and hydration. Personally I think they are inbetween a lipstick and a gloss with the added balm in, as they give more colour than a gloss but also give you that sheer effect. Perfect for those hot days. Your lips feel much softer with the Lip Butters.
You can purchase the Glamour Nights Palette at www.muacosmetics.co.uk you receive this FREE when you spend over £4, what a bargain. The pigment is this palette is fantastic and there are some really lovely shimmery tones in there, again perfect for these summer days. The Lip Butters can be purchased from Superdrug or Boots they have £2 off at the moment so you can grab one for £5.99. Unfortunately I can not upload the look I did as my camera is a no go at the moment. x

Colour Block Photo Shoot

This was my third ever photo shoot, third shoot after graduating from AOFM. But my first shoot going alone after graduating. Here I wanted to have a pop of colour and for this to be bright and striking. The images came out perfectly for what we wanted to achieve. The image with the necklace captured the moment perfectly. I networked with a local photographer for this shoot, someone i ended up working alongside quite a few times. :-)

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks

The Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks in Shades Bronze and Pink Quartz both She Beauty Award Winners of 2011 have being a constant addition to my Professional Make Up Kit.

Both pallets work wanders in so many ways, you can apply to the cheeks as a Bronzer or Highlighter, you can apply as a eye shadow and they are also great for shimmering up the décolletage area or any body part for that matter. I have used this on my arms and chest area. One thing is for certain you can be sure to look like a beautiful goddess after applying the shimmer bricks.

The bronze pallet is great for applying all over the face, were the light naturally hits so the cheeks, nose, and a touch on the forehead and chin. Both the Bronze and Pink Quartz pallet are great for the décolletage area.

Personally I do not apply the Pink Quartz Pallet all over my face I keep this one more for the cheeks, eyes and décolletage.  If you also apply this pallet over your normally pink blusher you will find you achieve a more intense colour with a lovely highlight on top.

I use an angled contouring brush for the cheeks, brush over the apples of the cheeks and up to the hairline. For bronzing I use a larger bronzing brush this is great for covering more areas of your face. The best way to obtain a bronzed look is to start at the middle of your forehead and come down to your cheeks then out again towards your hairline then down the side of your jaw line and chin, so in a number three shape.

If you looking for a highlighter, bronzer, eye shadow and body shimmer all rolled into one then grab yourselves a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, why purchase 3-4 separate products when you can have them all rolled into one.

The bricks also come in shades:

Ltd Edition Rose Gold
Ltd Edition Wild Rose
Nectar Shimmer Brick
Rose Shimmer Brick
Beige Shimmer Brick

Retailing at £30.50

Dermacolor Palette

I wanted to share with you this amazing dermacolor palette. This was introduced to me at AOFM were I studied my make up course. There are 4 palettes to choose from all for different skin tones. Each palette holds 16 colours, they only look small but the depth of them goes down quite far into the palette and you only need a tiny amount as they cover brilliantly. They are great for covering tattoos, scars, pigmentation and birthmarks. They are a creamy substance. I used one of these palettes at a photoshoot yesterday and it worked perfectly. You can purchase these from www.gurumakeupemporium.com at a cost of 14.60. Ideal for professionals to build up your concealer collection or even for your day to day kit as they do last a long time and work very well. :-)

Cheryl Cole at The Cannes Film Festival 2012

I Saw this image on the news this morning, even though the dress is a tad dramatic it's a very interesting dress. It looks like she melts into the red carpet. My eyes were of course on the make up, loving cheryl's dark smoky eyes. This Goes very well with the dress. I always love a sultry dark smoke eye. She looks absolutely amazing. :-) x

Staying Power Blusher

Staying Power - Blusher

So we all like to look radiant and have a nice pop of colour on our cheeks. I have a little tip that will help blusher stay on longer and give a truer colour.

Apply a cream based blusher on top of your foundation, apply this to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards. Set this with a transculent or whichever coloured powder you use then apply a similar shade of powder blusher on top.

With the two different blushers combined this produces longer staying power and added colour. This I do on a daily basis and it definately makes a huge difference. A good cream based blusher is Max Factors Cream Blush £5.99.

Fashionista Pallet

This is another pallet I have been testing out recently, this is my new Fashionista pallet which was recommended to me by one of my favourite make up artists Karla Powell, these are again great products at great prices, the pigment is amazing and they are really creamy and soft when applying. You can customise your own pallet with a mixture of eyeshadows or blushers, I opted for two eyeshadows and two blushers. The shades I used in this picture are Globe shade 3 and Golden Dragon Shade 2. I finished this off with a Lancome Hypnose Mascara. You can purchase the Fashionista products from selected Superdrug stores the pallet is £5 and the shadow and blusher inserts are £4 each. Great for filling your kits. :-)

Nicki Minaj

I wanted to share this picture of Nicki Minaj with you all, she always pushes the boundaries with her make up and style which I love. She really shows off her true colours and pop power in this photo shoot which was done for American Edition of Vogue Magazine.

Nicki has stormed the pop world with her rap and hip hop tunes, she is not your typical Oscar del la Renta client as she is normally seen sporting skirts, bustiers and leggings but she carry’s this red dress off perfectly which is from Oscar’s Spring collection.

Her make up again looks flawless, Stephane Marais was responsible for the make up in this photo shoot, and she looks amazing. He has worked with Nicole Kidman, SJP and Julianne Moore.
The pastel pink wig works so very well in this shoot along with the red Oscar dress and the colour choice of skin. I love.

Shu Uemura UV Underbase Mousse

This UV Underbase Mousse by Shu Uemura has to be the best Primer I have used, this was introduced to me whilst I was studying at AOFM. It is ultra lightweight and creates a perfect canvas for make up. When I used this on myself it covered any redness I had and gave my skin a lovely pick me up and added a bit of colour to my skin. With any foundation placed on top of this mousse it creates a perfect ultra smooth poreless finish. I will always make sure I have one of these in my kit. Irt is perfect for bridal make up. It also has the added benefit of having a SPF 30, with this it results in the mousse being 20x lighter than one without the SPF. I have found also with this product it is lighter than using a cream based primer. You can purchase this fantastic product online at a cost of £29.00. :-))

Strawberry's and Cream

So today I re created a Strawberry's and cream look which was inspired to me by one of my favourite make up artists Karla Powell, her work is amazing. I get so much inspiration from her.

Below is the look I re created, I used MUA Pallets in Pretty Pastels and Immaculate, I used a white rimmel eyeliner on the waterline, a loreal liquid eyeliner and my gorgeous Benefit Lashes, I just lurvvvvvv them they are so big and fluffy yet still look quite natural. I would definately wear this look for a night out. You can purchase all MUA Products in your nearest Superdrug or online at www.muacosmetics.co.uk

My Blog posted by FashionRider.com

Hi All, Please do take a look at this amazing blog which was written about me and my style of make up work,

Enjoy :-))) http://www.fashionrider.com/blog/23-sarah-baldwin

Winged Cat Eye

I created a winged look a few days ago, using the Bobbi Brown Gel Cake Liner, which comes in a small pot. I applied this using my angled illamasqua liner brush, Fantastic brush for getting those well defined lines. You can view Illamasqua’s make up collections at www.illamasqua.co.uk they have some amazing products. Have a go at creating your alter ego. :-)

Benefit Boi - ing Industrial Strength Concealer - A god send :-)

This Benefit Boi-ing concealer is a god send, ever since I discovered this little gem a few months ago I have fell in love with it. This product targets dark circles, blemishes and un-even skin tone or any other flaw you feel you would like to cover. You can pop it anywere on your face. I use my finger around the eye area as I feel the heat on my fingers helps concealer blend into the skin better. For blemishes I use a brush, if I do not use a brush I find the product goes around the blemish onto areas I do not need it. This can look a little cakey if to much is applied. The consistancy of this product is amazing it’s really creamy and light. It comes in 5 different shades, so a shade to suit every skintone. At the counters this retails at £16.50 but you can pick it up cheaper on ebay which i did today. I like to save the penny’s were I can. :-))))

The Blush Brigade

I am all about the blushers at the moment, they give a  pop of colour to your skin and give you that instant pick me up.
I wanted to blog on one blusher in particular, TheSleek Blush by 3, this pallet has matte and shimmer shades. You can wear the matte alone in the day and add the shimmer on top for the evening, i personally do like to mix two blushers together. Or you can wear the matte seperately to the shimmer colour. The pallets are ultra pigmented and great to pop in your handbag and equally your professional kit.

This blusher comes in 5 different colour choices so something for every skin tone. The shades come in:
Lace, Pink Sprint, Sugar, Flame and Pumpkin.

The picture here is for shade Pink Sprint and this is great for darker skin tones.

Your not sure which shade suits your skin!!!!! Please see below:
English Rose Beauty’s should opt for Baby Pinks
Light Olive skin tones suit soft peaches and corals
Medium Olive skin tones are best suited to warm orange’s and deep golden pinks
Darker skin tones can get away with more deep and vibrant colours like deep plums and hot fuchsia

All the sleek pallets have the combination of the above shades you can purchase these gorgeous pallets from Superdrug for £9.99 or shop online at www.sleekmakeup.com for a price of £10.00
Have fun with your colour :-)

The Perfect Eyebrow Shape

The Perfect Eyebrow Shape

We all like to achieve a perfect classic brow, that defines your face and features.
Since studying the brow area at AOFM Make Up School, I have become a little obsessed with them. Any photo shoot I have, I have to say the brow is the main area I really look forward to working my magic on, I have had a couple of models laugh at me for this, which has been quite funny on a shoot.

Three simple steps determine the perfect eyebrow shape, please see below:

Firstly you will need a thin make up brush or something of a similar size, a pencil will also do the trick, you will need to position this at point A (See picture)  this is at the corner of the nose and the inner corner of the eye, this is were the eyebrow should start.

Then position the thin object at Point B (See picture) this is again at the corner of the nose (as above) but slightly move the thin object to the centre of the eye, this is were the highest part of the arch will be.

Then lastly position the object at Point C (See picture); this is again from the corner of the nose to the outer corner of the eye.  This is were the brow should end.

Now  you will have achieved your perfect brow shape. :-)

You can pencil in your brows with a brow pencil, one of my favourites is Rimmels Brow Pencil this lasts such a long time and give a great finish £2.99. I also use a Brow Kit, I use Benefit’s Brow Zinge Kit in shade medium £21, this has a wax substance and a shadow substance which you mix together.

A little handy tip I always always do is spray my brow comb/brush with a little hairspray then apply this to the brow, this keeps the hairs nicely in place all day, or alternatively you can use brow gel. MUA sell one for £1, this can be purchased in Superdrug stores.

The inserted picture of the three models is from my anerican edition vogue magazine, this really is all about the brows with the make up, and they look stunning. This is a fine example of a perfect brow.
