Powder Shadow Smoky Eye

Morning All,

So today I was inspired to do a Purple Smoky Eye, I wanted to inject a bit of colour into my day J

I opted for a pallet I have not used for a while which is my No7 Midnight Enchantment Eye Palette, this was a Limited Edition from No7 which was sold last Christmas time. Along side this I also used a MAC Pencil Liner, L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D Mascara, Bourjois Shadow in Shade 04 Noir Precieux, No7 Metallic Eyeliner in shade 05 Purple, and lastly my amazing Fashionista Gel Liner.

Below are my top tips for a perfect Smoky Eye:

The best way to start off your smoky eye is to layer up the lid with a light shade right up to the brow area.

Take a light matte shade and apply this to the lid from the lash line to the fold (socket) of the eye using a stiff brush. Do not go any higher or you will not have space to blend.

Take a soft shade next, this will be your mid tone. Apply this from the outer corner of the eye and up over the socket line going towards the bridge of the nose. Blending upwards as you go. You will need a shadow brush to apply this then a big fluffy blending brush for the blending.

Once you have the correct shape you desire take one of your darker shades and deepen the socket area again using a stiff brush to apply and a fluffy brush for the blending. Using the same stiff brush apply your darkest shade again into the socket area and then bring this underneath the eye, below the bottom lashes. You can bring this right to the inner corner if you wish under the lash line.

Always keep the corner of the eye the lightest and layer up your dark colours starting from the outer eye area. If you preferred a really smoky eye all over then you can use the darker shadow in the corner of the eye but to widen the eye area I would recommend layering from the outer eye area.

Always run a gel liner or pencil liner along the top of the lid really close to the lashes, it does not matter if this is not perfectly straight (if you use a pencil liner) as you will then grab a small blending brush and blend this into the eye shadow you have already applied.

Make sure you line your waterline with a black eye liner then apply a generous amount of black mascara.

Have fun with your chosen shades and create that perfect smoky eye for your next glam night out.
