Eye Design inspired by Karla Powell Make Up Artist

A couple of eye designs I have done recently.

I re-created a look, which was designed, by one of my favourite Make Up Artists Miss Karla Powell she created a look inspired by Cleopatra using Make Up Academy’s new Undressed Eye shadow Palette, so I just had to give it a go :-)

I added some really fancy lashes onto mine for some extra oomph. The winged look I have created was done using the amazing Fashionista Gel Liner; I have blogged on this product previously it really is a god send.

All products I used here apart from the lashes which are Illamasqua can be purchased from Superdrug

Lancome Teint Mircale Bare Skin Perfector Foundation

Teint Miracle Natural Light Creator Bare Skin Foundation

We all struggle form time to time in finding the perfect foundation, how I see it is trying to shop for a decent pair of jeans, hummmm exactly, sometimes impossible isn’t it?

After years of sampling many many different foundations, cheap, expensive, full coverage, sheer coverage, bb creams plus many more I now have found my perfect match with Teint Miracle by Lancome.

I love a full coverage look but not so it is visible on the skin, as some full coverage foundations are really thick and I have found that throughout the day they can make your skin look cakey and greasy, which is a look I know we all try to avoid.

This amazing product by Lancôme gives a full coverage but it looks really natural and gives your skin a luminous effect as if light was coming from underneath the skin – GENIUS.  This really gives your skin that bare natural look.

This clever foundation projects light through the skin and the technology works to recreate and boost the skins natural light, in return giving you that fresh flawless luminous look. And because this product also has 10x less powdery fillers, the skin stays smoother and hydrated for up to 18hrs (wear for 12 hrs) and does not sit in the frown lines.

Teint Miracle comes in 18 shades so something to suit everyone,  and is priced at £27.00

Is Suitable for all skin types, oil and fragrance free, and a little goes a long long way.

A couple of my tips on matching the foundation to your skin so you get the perfect colour:

Check on the side of the neck or on the chest area (not on the back of the hand) the colour should disappear into the skin. The skin on the back of the hands is not the same as the face and neck area so from experience I always find that the colour does not appear to its true form on the hand.

Apply foundation with a sponge, brush or fingers. Personally I prefer to use a brush then dab a make up sponge across my face, just to blend it in even more.

Lancôme counters will match a colour to your skin and give you a sample to take home with you. The sample normally lasts for a week. What are you waiting for ladies get yourselves down to your nearest Lancôme counter.

I know I have found a foundation that will be sticking with me for a long long time.

Max Factor - Flipstick Lets Get Creative

A Lipstick for us Creative Make Up Lovers – Mix it, Flip it Create it with Max Factors Innovative New Lipstick.

This Max Factor Flipstick has being in the shops for a little while now, but I finally managed to grab myself one yesterday. I purchased shade Bloomy Pink, please see swatch picture.

What a great product that really lets you get creative easily with no fuss. With the double-ended design it could not be easier to mix it up. On one end of the Flipstick you have a rich creamy colour and on the other end a lighter iridescent shade.

You can get four uses out of this Flipstick,

  • Wear the colours alone
  • Wear one on each lip
  • Blend them together
  • Or apply the lighter shade to the middle of the lips whilst the darker shade sits around this on the outer parts of the lips.

I have to say if you would like those two toned fashionable lips then go for option four, this gives a great dimension to the lips.

At the moment in Superdrug you get this FREE if you purchase a False Lash Effect Mascara.

Normal retail price £8.49

Have fun ladies experimenting with Lip Artistry x

Sparkly Clean Make Up Brushes

Are we all cleaning our Make Up Brushes on a regular basis????

This is a very bad make up sin ladies ;-). To keep your brushes in tip top shape and clean use a baby shampoo to clean them every 2-3 days. Just pop a small amount onto the middle of your hand and wipe the dirty brush through it until you see the make up come out then swirl it round under the warm water until the water from the brush runs clear. Leave them to dry overnight.

I normally wash mine every few days and my professional brushes after every job so they are nice and clean ready for the next client.

If you do not wash your make up brushes regularly they gather bacteria and dead skin cells. When you are constantly using them every day you are brushing these dead skin cells and bacteria onto your clean skin. Which I am sure once you have read this will have you all saying ughhhhh. But that is the truth so make sure you keep them sparkly clean.

Powder Shadow Smoky Eye

Morning All,

So today I was inspired to do a Purple Smoky Eye, I wanted to inject a bit of colour into my day J

I opted for a pallet I have not used for a while which is my No7 Midnight Enchantment Eye Palette, this was a Limited Edition from No7 which was sold last Christmas time. Along side this I also used a MAC Pencil Liner, L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D Mascara, Bourjois Shadow in Shade 04 Noir Precieux, No7 Metallic Eyeliner in shade 05 Purple, and lastly my amazing Fashionista Gel Liner.

Below are my top tips for a perfect Smoky Eye:

The best way to start off your smoky eye is to layer up the lid with a light shade right up to the brow area.

Take a light matte shade and apply this to the lid from the lash line to the fold (socket) of the eye using a stiff brush. Do not go any higher or you will not have space to blend.

Take a soft shade next, this will be your mid tone. Apply this from the outer corner of the eye and up over the socket line going towards the bridge of the nose. Blending upwards as you go. You will need a shadow brush to apply this then a big fluffy blending brush for the blending.

Once you have the correct shape you desire take one of your darker shades and deepen the socket area again using a stiff brush to apply and a fluffy brush for the blending. Using the same stiff brush apply your darkest shade again into the socket area and then bring this underneath the eye, below the bottom lashes. You can bring this right to the inner corner if you wish under the lash line.

Always keep the corner of the eye the lightest and layer up your dark colours starting from the outer eye area. If you preferred a really smoky eye all over then you can use the darker shadow in the corner of the eye but to widen the eye area I would recommend layering from the outer eye area.

Always run a gel liner or pencil liner along the top of the lid really close to the lashes, it does not matter if this is not perfectly straight (if you use a pencil liner) as you will then grab a small blending brush and blend this into the eye shadow you have already applied.

Make sure you line your waterline with a black eye liner then apply a generous amount of black mascara.

Have fun with your chosen shades and create that perfect smoky eye for your next glam night out.

Fashionista Gel Eyeliner

Hi Ladies, if your looking for a super super affordable, great quality and very easy to apply Gel Eyeliner then take a look at the link below.
http://www.superdrug.com/eyes/fashionista-secret-gel-eye-liner-short-list/invt/311850/?source=179_75

I purchased this last week for £6.00 from Superdrug and I have to say out of all the Gel Liners I have used over the years, expensive and not so expensive this has come out on top.

The brush to appy this product is in the lid you just pull the top and off it comes. (See picture) The liner is really creamy and applies like no other I have used before.

It glides on so easily, it has a soft like gel texture which makes it much easier to achieve that trendy winged look. You can make the flick as small or as big as you wish. But whichever you choose, one thing is for sure with this product it will look stunning. :-)) Gel liners are less messy than their liquid counterparts and by using the fine brish which is applied you can create really precise lines.

Have fun x

Violent Lip Tattoos - Jessie J

Violent Lip Tattoos have become a huge fashion hit/statement over here in the UK, ever since Jessie J was seen sporting a Union Jack Style Lip Tattoo for her CD Cover.

How many of you sported a pair of the Union Jack Design for the Jubilee?? What a great statement to make for the occasion.

The Butterfly is a brand new print for Spring 2012. (Please see picture) Packaged as a 3 Colour Multi-Pack, The Butterfly includes Red, Pink and Natural (Orange) colored version of the Design for a total of 6 temporary Lip Tattoo. I personally think 6 applications per pack is a bargain.

The Lip Tattoos last 4-8 hours, you can also eat and drink once applied.

I have actually applied the black and red fishnet Lip Tattoos to Pixie Lott’s Dancers for a Live TV Show on ITV, that job was such a privilege. A Make Up Artist whose work I adore asked me along, :-)))). I was quite overwhelmed.

Please do check the Violent Lips website www.violentlips.com for all the designs, prices and handy tips on how to apply. They have you tube videos to help us ladies with the application.

Lip BOOM - Make Up Academy

Make Up Academy - Lip Boom

f any of you lovely ladies are looking for a affordable, colourful on trend lipstick, then look no further. Check out the above link and purchase one of Make Up Academy's new Lip Boom's which are also in conjunction with Alexandra Burke. The 4 in 1 lipstick and gloss come in 8 fabulous shades. I have purchased shade Cheeky, it is a light pink colour i love it. I normally wear the lipstick (x2 coats) then add the gloss end into the middle of my lips top and bottom which creates that sexy fullness. Or you can wear the lipstick alone for a classic matte look. The third look is to wear the gloss alone, and the last look you can wear the lipstick (x2 coats) then add the gloss on top all over the lips for a super glossy pout. :-) and there you have it a 4 in 1 lipstick and gloss. Fabulous.
The Lip Booms are only £3.00 each, such a bargain. Head over to the link below and grab yourself some new colours for your Make Up bag. :-)

Benefit 10' Highlighter and Bronzer

Benefit 10’ Bronzer and Highlighter £23.50

WOW – How have I not had this in my Make Up Kit before now??????

This pallet by Benefit is perfect for sculpting those cheekbones, Highlight and Contour in one easy sweep – Perfect. The pallet consists of a satiny pink and bronze powder duo, which equals the perfect 10’. In the pallet you receive a lovely soft natural-bristle brush.

Little tip on how to get the best from the pallet – Pop a bit of the pink shade onto the brush and sweep this over the apple of the cheek going up towards the hairline, then apply a mixture of the two colours together and apply again on the apples of the cheeks up to the hairline, You can blend the two together or leave a bit of the pink highlighter just on top of the cheekbone under the eye. I then personally like to apply the bronzer onto the brush and with the applicator end pointing directly facedown, run this under your cheekbone to achieve that sculpted contoured effect.

You can purchase this gorgeous pallet online at www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk or in store at various department stores.

Now I have this little gem in my kit it is definitely going to be a keeper.
